Not all the time, but on occasion when I hit the start button on the wing it acts like it has a dead battery. The second time it did it I replaced the battery, but the problem still exists. The problem has popped up several times since battery replacement. If any one has encountered this problem and knows how to fix it, I would sure appreciate the help, or just point me in the right direction.
THANKS IN ADVANCE

The starter button is probably dirty.

V-e-e-e-r-y slowly depress the starter button and see if it catches and spins. Mine's been like that for years, and I just live with it. martin

Well if it where happening to mine I would start with cleaning the battery post and cables. Spray the starter button. See if this helps and if problem still was there I would look at connections on starter motor and the wiring in between.

Thomas I agree with Ross.
Go to radio shack and get you a spray can of contac cleaner and spray the starter buttion real good ,be sure to cover all the plastic ,the contack cleaner can damage the plastic.
After you have done that if you have a air compresser blow air in to the switch just do not use high pressure. Then go through and check all your connections real good.
Here a couple of months ago our car was doing the same thing, turned out the battery cable were it hooks to the battery was all coroded this was on a dodege intrepid. The battery on them is down below the air cleaner box were you can not see it.Cleaned and retightend all the connection no more problems.
When it comes to electrial problems look for the simple things first.

The starter button carries low current, it activates the starter relay that carries the high current between battery and starter motor.

So look at the starter relay too. If the bike is in neutral, you can test it by applying battery current to the terminal leading from the starter button. It should kick in immediately.

You can do this test with the engine stop switch in "off" or "stop" position as you are jumping the relay itself.

Also, I recall some having problems with the reverse switch near the reverse lever after using same as a "park brake" repeatadly.

First off your symptom is vague, "acts like it has a bad battery? Cranks but does not start, does not start, headlight out? Dash light dim? etc. There is a starter relay by the Right foot peg behind the cover. Does that click? Check the voltage on all 4 wires if you need to.
My 1500A has had a start problem for a while now. Intermittantly when you depress the start button it will not crank. Slowly release the button and it will begin cranking. I just removed the right switch assy (around the throttle) removed 3 little screws and wd'ed the start swtich. I could not find my contact cleaner at the time. It has not been long but that seemed to fix my problem but time will tell. I have also heard about the Reverse lever/switch causing problems.
