Thursday, November 05, 2009 06:11 pm | I am looking at a Harbor Freight 1000 Lb. Capacity Motorcycle Lift for my 1994 Honda Goldwing. I also have a Lawson motorcycle lift that I purchased at Sam’s Club some years ago. My question is does anyone have any experience with either of these units? Would I be better off and saving for a Pitt Bull stand? Thanks for any help you can give. I have a link to the Harbor Freight Motorcycle lift. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem. taf?Itemnumber=91764

Thursday, November 05, 2009 06:24 pm | I have the harbor freight with air or manual pump in my shop. It holds up my 98SE just fine. It takes up alot of room, I park my Chevy truck over it when I am not using it. I do not know if it would last if you used it all day everyday, but works fine for use once in a while. I found it necessary to make the platform both wider and longer in order to be useful for the GL1500. In addition, the hydraulic cylinder is barely adequate to lift the wing. I'd like to have a stronger, larger unit but am stuck with this one. |

I have used other brands of that style of lift and I like theirs the best, although I never used the Pitt Bull. "ON2WLS" Personalized Plate Pearl Serra 95 SE 02 Aspen Classic |

It is well built, powder coated vs paint, all the pivot points have grease zerks and will lift your bike about 24' or so off the ground SOLIDLY. This thing is rock solid stable. My only regret was not buying one sooner. While the Sears lift works, it in no way compares the Pit Bull. I would never consider pulling a wheel off the bike without tying it down on the Sears. I regularly remove wheels while the bike is fully raised on the Pit bull with no tie downs present. |

Sunday, November 08, 2009 08:59 pm | I have the 1200lb Harbor Freight lift. It is air operated and works fine. I had to make a small extension on the front so when I put my 1500 on the center stand, the stand is not on the removable panel for the rear wheel. I park mine on it at all times. It does take up much room. But I find it one of the best things I have bought for my bike ever. Makes servicing and claening a real joy. No more laying on the ground. |

Monday, November 09, 2009 08:39 pm | I have the HF 1,000 lb table lift that I got as part of the deal when I bought my beemer. The lift makes for a good storage shelf for tool boxes and other stuff when not in use for the bike. The beemer (R100RT @ approx. 510 lbs) is no problem on that table. However, the weight of the SE (800 + lbs) is in my opinion pushing the safe limit of that particular lift. If I were buying one specifically for the Wing I would go with the larger capacity table. The chief benefit of any such lift is getting the bike up to waist and mid chest level for ease of access. I've got to say, it beats the daylights out of crawling around on the carport floor.
