I blew out my rear tire yesterday. I have been running Metzlers and they had really bad "cupping" on them. I'm not sure what caused the flat yesterday, but by the time I stopped, the tire was destroyed. My Honda dealer said he only carries Dunlops (E-3) and Bridgestone. I'm looking for advise/help to decide what to put on the bike now. I know this is a very controversial issue and I am looking for positive or negative comments about tire selection. Thanks for any input.

Dennis I am going to guess you have a 1500.
There has been all kinds of posts on this board about the problems with the metzlers rear tire on the 1500s.Just go with the e3 keep the air pressure at 40 to 41 lbs.and you will have no more problems.
To any one reading this if you have a 1500 with metzlers on it get them off of the bike!
THEY ARE NO GOOD!

Dennis IMHO a car tire is the only way to go on an 1800.

Run flat car tire, saves money, grips much better, carries much more load, smoother ride, stops much much better, available almost anywhere, and costs less too.

Saves money, and saves lives too.

Yes they have much better technology in them than the motorcycle tires with their 20-40 year old technology.

I wouldn't feel safe putting my grandkids in a tree swing made out of metzeler. I've got the Michelin Pilot GT on my 1500 and I'm due for a front. Now I find out the Pilot GT is no longer available. I guess I'll go Avon now.

Michelin Pilot or Avon Venom. I have run them both with good results. I have tried a car before and it rode different from a bike tire. It take so getting use to, the learning curve is fast but I just don't like the way they handle. I'm not knock the car tire but it's just not for me.

Dennis,
I have not worn out my oem Dunlop D250's yet but I know from watching this post my next set will be the G709 & G704 Bridgestones because from what I have read and those I have spoken with they are the best all around tire for the wing. But I must add this could all change if I like the car tire thing I am going to try shortly. Just ordered a 195/55/16 Bridgestone Potenza to put on my spare wheel. I am kind of in between the pro and con on this car tire thing so I will try it myself. I understand the run-flat thing that most people doing but the additional weight and rigid sidewall in the run-flat tire and having a couple of bad kumho tires on a car made my choice to stick with bridgestone for my tire trial a little easier.
