I have acquired a lighted vanity mirror for my '91A which, I believe, probably came off an SE. Can someone tell me if/where the electrical connector may be located? Also, where does the on/off open/closed lid switch get mounted? Thanks for any insight and help. Ed V.

James; The light itself mounts on the top lid inside, but the wiring has a red two pin connector. The power goes through a switch but it's a door switch like on a car door which would mount on the door sill so that if you leave the mirror cover open when you close the lid the light will go off. I just don't know where to mount the switch or to hook up the power connector. No, this one does not have the mercury switch. Thanks, Ed.

As I recall, on my 1500, the switch mounted on the lid in the lower left hand corner (looking at the lid from the rear with the lid open). The button on the switch face the rear when open, and as the lid closed it came against a horizontal shelf, deflected and shut off the power to the light.
Hopefully someone out there has one and will send you a picture of the mounting position.

I have an 2000SE. I never saw any type of mounting for a vanity mirror. Perhaps it is an aftermarket product?????

Martin: I have one on my SE but it isn't lighted. Mother had a lighted version for around $80.

Ed, the Aspencade does not have a plug on it in the wiring to plug the mirror in. Stu has told you the correct place to mount the switch. The one I had on my Aspencade also had an on/off switch on the light itself so it could be left off in the daylight when the lid was open, but if it was left on, the switch on the lid left corner would cut the light off. If that is the case, you can wire it to the battery or a wire that is hot all the time.

Stu, that might explain it. My 1500A was a 93 model.

Thanks, Guys! As usual, great useful info. I will mount the switch on the left- that coincides with the way the wire harness on the mirror takes a set and lies flat. I'll pull the seat and run a new fused line for it. Thanks, again.

Just for info, I had a wired lighted mirror in the trunk of my 01 1800 but it got busted. So took it out. Happened to be in the auto section of WalMart and came upon a lighted mirror that runs off two AA batteries which lights only when you open the lid. Same size as the wired model. Batteries last forever. Price range in the neighborhood of about $8. Wife uses it all the time.
