Thursday, October 29, 2009 06:27 pm | Has anybody been running bias tires on the GL1800, specifically the front? I inherited a pair of Metzler 130/70B18 fronts, same 600LB load specs as the E-3 Radials...so started wondering. Thanks.

They are all made the same as all bead construction is the same. You can mount either one and that part is fine. My only concern would be having two tires with different handling characteristics on a two wheeled motorcycle. Can you imagine going through a high speed sweeper and having the rear radial holding tight, and the slight wash out of the bias ply tire at the same time? If they are free, I would consider maybe experimenting a little to see if their is any creedence to the wife's tale. I have not experienced any handling problems in the 2000 or so miles since it has been mounted, it brakes, corners and rides just fine. I am not advocating the practice but the question was asked so I'm answering. |
