I hate "sticker shock" when paying for stuff and am trying to prepare for the worst. It is time to have the valve clearance checked on the wing and was wondering what others have experienced.

Did your bike (1800) need adjustments at 32K?.. Labor cost in hours? (I'm thinking 2, at the most)

64K?

I have serviced the wing as required by Honda with no mechanical problems, ever. I don't anticipate a problem with the valves having to be adjusted, but want to be prepared IF they do.

Thanks

Morris, I am not familiar with anyone that had to have their valves adjusted at 32K. I have one friend that had his first check at 145,000 miles and all the valves were within tolerance, The Wing shop here only charged him 75 bucks for the check.

Thanks, James. In the few years that I have been following this BBS, I hadn't read where someone had to have it done, but wanted to check anyway. I didn't want to assume that my limited mechanical knowledge of this machine would be good to go on.

Thanks, again.

Had mine done at 32k. They were fine. Mechanic said wait at least another 50k before getting it done again. Cost a $125.00 for but they did a few other minor things for at the same time.

Boy I had mine done a 2006 done at 32,000 and they needed a little adjustment and it cost me $350.00. I wonder if I got ripped off. At $350 I am going to do it myself next time.

I've got the set, Willie, and can do it myself, but want the dealer-those who will be honoring the extended warranty-to make this first check to provide both of us with a record of their findings.

Take it to the Shop and get it done if you have an extended warranty....The proof is in the record keeping.

It would be interesting to CONFIRM dealer readings vs a check done by somebody else.

Yeah, Newt, I considered that same possibility. In this case their techs better be accurate.......minor job now and only $$(mine) or big job later and $$$$$$$$(theirs).

Isn't just checking them pretty easy. I know adjusting them is fairly tough. Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
