Thursday, October 29, 2009 02:17 pm | I hate "sticker shock" when paying for stuff and am trying to prepare for the worst. It is time to have the valve clearance checked on the wing and was wondering what others have experienced. Did your bike (1800) need adjustments at 32K?.. Labor cost in hours? (I'm thinking 2, at the most) 64K? I have serviced the wing as required by Honda with no mechanical problems, ever. I don't anticipate a problem with the valves having to be adjusted, but want to be prepared IF they do. Thanks

I have one friend that had his first check at 145,000 miles and all the valves were within tolerance, The Wing shop here only charged him 75 bucks for the check. James I. Jones |

Thursday, October 29, 2009 03:44 pm | Thanks, James. In the few years that I have been following this BBS, I hadn't read where someone had to have it done, but wanted to check anyway. I didn't want to assume that my limited mechanical knowledge of this machine would be good to go on. Thanks, again. "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler" (Let the Good Times Roll") |

Thursday, October 29, 2009 04:04 pm | Had mine done at 32k. They were fine. Mechanic said wait at least another 50k before getting it done again. Cost a $125.00 for but they did a few other minor things for at the same time. Butch USAF,MSGT, EOD Ret 2001

Thursday, October 29, 2009 04:09 pm | Boy I had mine done a 2006 done at 32,000 and they needed a little adjustment and it cost me $350.00. I wonder if I got ripped off. At $350 I am going to do it myself next time. Warren Rose WFRose@bis.midco.net 2006- GL1800 2004- BMW R1200C

Friday, October 30, 2009 11:08 am | Yeah, Newt, I considered that same possibility. In this case their techs better be accurate.......minor job now and only $$(mine) or big job later and $$$$$$$$(theirs). "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler" ("Let the Good Times Roll") |
