2008 1800 w/navigation. Frequently the nav will lose satellite contact. I can ride for miles and miles while it is "searching". It doesn't seem to matter if the weather is cloudy or clear, open road or back roads. I also have a handlebar-mounted Garmin and a Sirius radio. I don't have the problem with these units. Is this common or could I have a faulty unit? Thanks for any info.

Off the top of my head I remember the Honda satt-antenna being just under the windshield in the dash (above the instrument cluster.) If you have a dash mat or other item covering this area it could hamper the signal.

I only lose signal when in dense trees or in a tunnel.

The manual tells you to not mount any goodies on the front of the fairing.

Ron - Check the unit inside the trunk and make sure the card is plugged in all the way.

I just rode mine on a long trip thru tunnels etc and only time I lost it was in the tunnels. Didn't take but a few seconds to link back up once out. It picked up when the bike mounted XM didn't get radio. Mine is on an '09

Ron,Other than an electronic maintenance issue, check for a loose connection in the trunk. The GPS unit is mounted on the back wall of the trunk (your corider would actually lean against the wall where it is mounted.
by the way, you should still be under factory warranty, so I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it. Let Mother Honda fix it.

It's under warranty. Take it to your dealer and hopefully they are capable of troubleshooting the problem for you. Ahhh... to still be on warranty. Must be nice. :-)
Best regards,

Jim

Thanks to all who offered suggestions. I did try unplugging and re-plugging the card. I have ridden twice and it seemed to work fine. Hopefully that took care of the problem.
