I have the J&M cb/weather radio on my 98 1500 aspencade. this is the integrated system to the bikes intercom / radio.

I think there must be a way to connect an mp3 player directly to the system but I'm not sure how. the unit has an aux volume control on it.
I didn't have any paperwork since it came with the bike, so I e-mailed J&M and requested a manuel, got a poor 4 page manual which doesn't even mention the aux volume control. the wiring diagram does show an un-labled connector adjacent to the connector for the bikes radio connection.

I downloaded a manual for a non integrated radio, its 11 pages and shows how to connect an mp3 player. but the wiring is different, (since it does not have the bike radio connector,) it shows an adapter cable for walkman type device but does not give a part number. and I can't find it listed on any web site.

anyone have this system? what do I need to make it work? would like to avoid having to use the cassette deck adapter. Thank you

Les, I had the same radio on my '94 1500. The aux control is for the unit that does not integrate to the 1500 system. I had the basic unit on my wife's bike and that did have an aux input. As far as I remember there is not an aux input for the unit you have if it's the one that hooks up to the bike's system. I used an FM modulator or a cassette unit to play my MP3 player thru the bike. I ran a power lead to the modulator and came up thru the gas cap compartment. Kept the modulator tucked in this compartment when not in use. My wife could hook up an MP3 to her unit. Hope this helps.
