I've been thinking about installing a set of Hot Grips on my 99 1500 SE. Does anyone have any advise on how to install the grips ? I've never installed grips of any kind, and have been told it can sometimes be a real bear getting the old grips off. Any Pointers ?

Hi Jon I took my stock grips off with a hot air gun, one used for paint removal but I might think a hair dryer would do the same. Just heat them one at a time and work them off. I also found through the boards here to use hair spray to put them on with. I tried rubber contact cement but did not last long I put on with hair spray and they have stayed for most of this summer and have not even shown any sign of working loose. rocky

I've had them for years, along with my heated jacket liner, it's the best money I ever spent.

I cut the old ones off (why keep them, you are never going to put them back on) and used JB Weld to keep the Hot Grips on for 9 years.

Hey Jon,
You may want to consider Polly heaters that install inside the handlebar.39 bucks and you can use any grip you like, I love mine.
