I just installed my third set of front speakers in 60,000 miles. the oems lasted about 60,000 the the first set of replacements lasted about a month the ones I replaced last night probably two years.
What is strange is that the replacements two sets failed in the same way . internal wiring . The little wires going to the cone if touched will make the speaker work . Surely I cant be the only one who has had this problem. Any ideas Frank

I blew out my originals because of too much volume at speed to hear them. The second set are J&M replacements. I don't listen that loud anymore. Learned my lesson. Helmet speakers also help save the dash ones.
Best regards,

Jim

has the problem been the connection inside the speaker/, the first replacement was J+M only a month. The second set where the polk audio. supposed to be an upgrade. I,m thinking that this stuff made in china is a very inferior product. I beleave that both were made there. The bike sets outside under a car port while I,m at work. niether of the replacements where rained on more that a couple of times. Allthough I dont see how that should effect internal wiring thanks Frank

Well if the speaker cloth or what ever it is, the body become brittle then to compensate for lack of sound you turn up the sound making it a hot point on the wires in back. And as Jim stated they go out. It has been stated to put a little epoxy spray I believe it is, On the new speakers before installing to help with this problem. rocky

The speakers have a pos and a neg side to them. If they are hooked up wrong then that could cause the problems you are having. On the base tones the speaker should bounce out. If it is backwards then the speaker will be pulled inward. That will wreck a good set of speakers quick.
