A speaker that tries to produce frequencies beyond it's abilities will distort making the overall sound not-so-good and could even damage the speaker. The Bass Blockers really help and are simple in-line plug-n-play. model #BB150A2 from www.crutchfield.com or read up on them here. http://bassblocker.com/ Good luck...

Thursday, October 22, 2009 07:25 pm | Randal...check the spec's (frequency response) on the speakers. Anything below what the speaker is designed to reproduce should be "cut off". Most of the speakers the Wing can use can be cut off (in my opinion) below 150 hz, thus the stock number from crutchfield (BB150A2). That way the speaker would not even try to produce a bass tone that it just couldn't do anyway (thus causing distortion or damage). Think about the height of a bridge...if a truck over that height were to try to go under it...well...you get the picture.
