My 1500 cruise control can be turned on but not set. I read on this board to check that the clutch lever needs to click twice when pulled in. Mine only clicks once unless I push the lever all the way out. If pushed out, the cruise will work as long as I keep the lever pushed out.

I have noticed that there is considerable play where the clutch rod is hooked in to the lever. Can clutch levers wear out?

Tony the bushing can wear, but first I would get some contact cleaner and spray inside the clutch lever real good, just be sure to cover all the plastic underneath real good.
After doing that if you have access to a air compresser blow some air through it,but do not use real high pressure.
Good luck.

Tony,
The other bushings that will cause that problem
is the ones in the clutch and brake levers. The
only way I know of to replace the bushing is to
replace the levers themselves. Honda does not
list them separatley. Maybe VENCO Wings has
them. The bushings I am reffering to are the
ones the pins go through.
Good luck and "Ride Safe",
Ken

Take the lever off and check the bushing for wear..It will be worn oblong. Also look carefully at the lever..it MAY (?) be worn also....Mine had a small dent worn into from the push rod that actuates the switch.

I change both the lever and the bushing and it was fixed 100%. Get a new rubber boot too while you are in there..

Venco has all the parts you need to fix this and it's abot $50 if I remember correctly....

Easy

Fixed the cruise not setting on mine by spraying with Radio Shack contact cleaner and pressing the switch a good 100 times. When I was getting only one click from the clutch engaging, the problem was that the bike would only start in neutral. The little teet on the clutch switch was worn down, so I put a dab of JB Weld on it to build it up and problem solved

Carl: 'Venco has all the parts you need to fix this and it's abot $50 if I remember correctly.... "

> The "Bushing" that Venco sells (22885-MB0-006) for the clutch lever is NOT the bushing into which the mounting bolt goes... eg It's the wrong bushing for this task. They do not sell the needed bushing... must buy the complete lever/bushing assembly instead.

Sorry for any mis-information

When mine went bad I needed the lever too so I bought the entire assembly....

So far it has held up for about 25K miles.

Clutch lever bushing

The Honda part Number 2285-MBO-006 is $10

The Suzuki part number 59892-08A00 is $3 and exactly the same part.

Easy and cheap fix. Use a pipe nipple or something like that, I used a deep socket my self. Nock that bushing out, rotate it 90 deg and nock it back in. Problem solved and it will last a long time, how long is any ones guess. Going on 3 years now on mine. I even saved some bushings out of a set of old handles just in case it fails.
